I have been receiving a great deal of positive comments about my blogs, which I try to write 3-4 times a month. These are usually small pieces of a philosophy of my best practices for nonprofits and deal with subjects like board governance, fund raising, staff development, and strategic planning. I have a long-term outline of what I want to deal with in an orderly pattern that ties the blogs together with some coherence.
I also have some really interesting experiences with my clients that I believe are teaching moments for me and for others in the field. These moments are more spontaneous and I must write them immediately after I have them. I don’t know whether to call them “mini-blogs” (because they’re shorter) or “true story” blogs because they reflect what happened in the last couple of days. Obviously, the identity of the agency being discussed will always be protected.
I often come home after a meeting and immediately want to share what happened and what I learned. I find myself having new insights each time. So I am making a commitment to sit down at the computer and let the ideas and thoughts flow. What happened? Why did it happen? What did I learn? Does it confirm or challenge something I have written? Beginning soon, these “whatever I call it” blogs will be added to my web page and will appear on the Segall Nonprofit Consulting Facebook page.
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do writing them.
As with all of my writings, please share your comments and interests.
